Who is Julie Xu?
Currently, I am designing beautiful virtual experiences at Pixel Canvas while living near San Diego, California. Before that, I was briefly a Graphic Designer at Boss Zhipin North America.
I graduated from UC Davis with Honors in 2020 — and straight into the worst job market since the Great Depression. I got my first real full-time position as a Product Designer. I love design because it allows me to leverage my diverse skills and interests in art, humanities, marketing, and emerging technologies.
Outside of work, I have a variety of interests: I am insatiably curious about arts and cultures, and am addicted to trying out/creating new things.

Model
TFP Shoots on Instagram
I started out my Instagram modeling journey in 2017, when my friend needed a model to practice her portrait photography skills. I found myself enjoying the process of model-photographer collaboration—it’s a conversation in visual languages. Since then, I have shot with over 40 photographers from around the world.
Origami Jewelry Designer
Kamyi.Art
In 2020, I began making Japanese-style origami earrings as a fun side hobby. I tried selling some on Etsy and turns out people are loving them. Currently I sell in-person at local crafts fairs and art shows.

Web3 Newbie
Going Down the Rabbit Hole
Recently I’ve been obsessed with learning about Web3. I start with investing in Cryptocurrencies and minting my own art NFTs. I am always staying curious and trying to read and understand as much about this space as possible.

Street Performer
Guzheng
I have been playing a Chinese traditional instrument called “Guzheng” since I was 6. After moving to the US, this instrument has become an important part of my identity. I challenged myself to perform in front of strangers on the street and found it fulfilling. In college, I co-founded “Davis Chinese Orchestra,” and led a group of musicians to perform at school and in the Davis community.
